Additional Duties on Certain Origin China Products Effective July 6, 2018

July 25, 2018

Dear Valued Customer:

As you are likely aware, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) imposed an additional duty of 25 percent on certain products of Chinese origin effective July 6, 2018. The Office of USTR published a list of 818 tariff classifications that will be subject to the application of the 25 percent additional duties upon entry into the United States. The Central team has been working to thoroughly assess the potential impact of these tariffs on our products and consequently on you, our valued customer.

The information currently available regarding these tariffs is fluid and it’s also missing critical information and other implementation details. Central is in the process of compiling a list of products that are potentially affected by this new trade policy. In the meantime if you have questions about whether a particular product is or may be subject to this tariff, please contact your Customer Relationship Manager or Regional Sales Manager.

At present, Central does not have plans to raise unit prices as a result of this tariff. However, once the impact has been evaluated and quantified, a surcharge may be imposed on applicable products.
