Hauppauge, NY USA – January 25, 2005 – Central Semiconductor Corp. announces the release of a new series of TRIACs with an extended current range. The industry standard current for TRIACs in a SOT-223 surface mount package is 1.0 Amp. Central Semiconductor now manufactures 2.0 Amp (CQ223-2M and CQ223-2N) and 4.0 Amp (CQ223-4M and CQ223-4N) devices in the SOT-223 package. The M suffix signifies a peak repetitive off-state voltage of 600 volts, while the N suffix signifies 800 volts. These devices are rated at a gate trigger current (IGT) of 5.0mA maximum in quadrants I, II, III and 9.0mA maximum in quadrant IV. The SOT-223 package, with a profile of 1.8mm, is ideal for small electronic products requiring the functionality of a TRIAC.
